Hello! I was wondering if a Thomasson is still a Thomasson if the property owner is forced by law to maintain the object in question? Would, for example, the Castlefield viaduct in Manchester, UK, count? It's abandoned and no longer functions as a viaduct, but the owners are unable to remove it as it is listed. Is a viaduct too big to a Thomasson? Thank you! Nathan.

That’s an interesting question. Most of the canonical Thomassons are private property, that a person or a business has maintained for some unexplainable reason. But the Castefield viaduct looks like a kind societal Thomasson, where the state is maintaining it for no discernable purpose. Does it hold historical or archeological significance?
